THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE & BODYWORK

- Cupping: Traditional Chinese Medicine technique. Glass suction cups are used to create a partial vacuum over chronically tight areas. This dramatically increases blood flow, thereby loosening adhesions (“knots”), increasing mobility and draining toxins from deep layers of muscle and connective tissue. Effectively reduces acute muscular pain, promotes upper respiratory and lung function and aids in scar therapy.
- Gua Sha(scraping): Another Traditional Chinese Medicine technique. A small round-edged tool is used on the superficial layers of skin in a “scraping” motion to promote circulation and reduce pain. Great for addressing tension headaches, tendonitis, symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, and at the first sign of cold (best attempt at translation of Gua Sha= Scrape away fever).***Note: Both cupping and Gua Sha may produce a pink, red or purplish color to the areas being addressed. This is known as the “sha”, which indicates the release of blood stagnation. Depending on the degree of stagnation the color will dissipate within 1-5 days.
- Craniosacral Therapy (CST): A gentle yet profoundly powerful technique targeting the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal column. Working with the central nervous system in this capacity can enhance the function of any other system in the body. Promotes a feeling of extraordinary relaxation and unwinding of long-standing issues. Among many other issues, CST is great for addressing TMJ, migraines, whiplash, emotional stress, chronic neck/upper back pain and post-surgergy recovery.
- Body Rocks Stone Massage: This technique features a beautiful stone tool, hand-carved out of green serpentine by a local massage therapist. When heated the effect is like having a hot stone massage. Also provides deeper pressure and is great for targeting trigger points and clearing energetic pathways. Works wonders on hands, feet and leg muscles.
